KIIT-IS BOOKTIQUE
We are planning to start the above project to inculcate the reading habit of the students in KIIT-IS. This is nothing but Book swapping program for the reader, students (he or she) can bring their own book to exchange with KiiT-IS Booktique. Kids can visit it anytime, just to find a book they like. We install one near to the entrance of the School for kids to visit before and after the school, or on weekends with the parents. Other one, near to cafeteria for use during breakfast, lunch. Library hubs (Booktiques) will be their near to the points where security in charge of the school will be standing.
How to start
To start Booktique in the campus, we need to find Old fridges, and unused Shelves from the old store or warehouse from the school or from donors. We can reuse the fridge and selves as book swapping hubs in KiiT International School Campus, at Bhubaneswar as part of efforts to protect the environment and increase reading habit in the school community. "There are a lot of things you can do with these types of fridges, but this is something that will benefit the whole community. It's not going to landfill and it's still being used. "It's actually being used longer than what it was designed for."
“Patrons” could borrow a book and bring it back or donate one of their own in exchange. Teachers and their students can get in on the action, too!. In our school, library visits happen only once in a week, and kids are generally urged to use the time to learn various library and literary skills, rather than just browse the stacks.
The volunteer is in charge of the library overall, coordinating the project and ongoing maintenance. Their name will be registered with the website, and their contact info should be readily available. Remember, though, that being a volunteer doesn’t mean doing all the work. Try to get students involved throughout the project—that’s part of the community-building appeal.
Fill it with books. You’ve got the structure. It’s time for a book drive! Ask parents to clean out their shelves or hit up local bookstores to ask for donations. Chances are you’ll wind up with far more books than you can use at one time, but that’s a good thing. Sort and store them to restock when your library looks a little low or when beloved books start to get a bit too ragged to keep lending.
How do you maintain it?
KIIT-IS Booktique will require regular maintenance to keep it looking and performing at its best. Plan to monitor it at least weekly, cleaning out any trash, wiping glass, and checking on inventory. Students can handle all of these chores; appoint a committee or have a different class maintain it each month during the school year.
