Hans Christian Anderson
Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875), Danish author and poet, wrote many poems, plays, stories and travel essays, but is best known for his fairy tales of which there are over one hundred and fifty, published in numerous collections during his life and many still in print today.
Throughout his life, Andersen wrote about 190 different stories; each one unique and revolving around a specific theme. Most of Andersen’s stories possess an intense originality while being intended for children and adults alike. Hans Christian Andersen was also known for his excellent plays and essays about his various world travels. However, his collection of fairy tales remains his most famous work.
